National Safe Digging Month Comes to a Close
Spring is in full swing! As the weather gets warmer and outdoor projects begin, remember to call 811 before you dig. National Safe Digging Month is a great reminder to keep our communities safe by always calling 811 to have underground facilities marked
within the excavation area.
Every six minutes an underground utility line is damaged because someone decided to dig before calling 811. To ensure the safety of yourself and your community, call 811 or submit an electronic locate request to your state’s One Call center before digging. You will decrease your chance of hitting an underground utility line to less than 1% by submitting a locate request within the appropriate amount of time.
KorTerra is a proud supporter of National Safe Digging Month. Each year in the month of April, our staff celebrates KorTerra’s role in keeping excavators, utilities and communities safe. This year we hosted a company-wide BBQ and Bean Bag Toss Tournament as a way to conclude another successful year.
National Safe Digging Month began in 2008 as a way to spread awareness about calling 811 before you dig. Common Ground Alliance stakeholders came together in the month of April to encourage safe digging practices and educate on the importance of one phone call.
