For the past eight years, the Common Ground Alliance has put together this expo which brings together hundreds of different organizations within the underground facility industry. It is also the largest damage prevention based gathering that takes place each year. This three day event begins on March 12 and will take place in West Palm Beach, Fla. In addition to featuring an exhibitor area, informational sessions and workshops will also be provided to attendees.
“As a dedicated member of the CGA and advocate of safe digging practices, it is an honor to be able to exhibit at this year’s CGA Excavation Safety Conference and Expo. We are looking forward to demonstrating new damage prevention technologies, such as our new damage prevention app, which offers quick access to One Call Center resources and safe digging information,” said KorTerra President, Chris Stendal.
This year’s expo will also feature the unveiling of a damage prevention search engine developed by KorTerra created for the CGA Technology Committee. KorTerra’s Vice President of Operations Jeff Law, who is the CGA Technology Committee Co-Chair, will be hosting a presentation along with Isaac Weathers of Georgia 811. During this presentation, Law and Weathers will provide a demonstration of the search engine, explaining how it is customized specifically for the damage prevention industry and how it will benefit its users.
“Using generic search engines can be overwhelming when searching for information about the damage prevention industry. Many times, your search will provide results not related to the damage prevention industry. The technology committee felt a need was not met with this type of searching, and thus had the idea of a search engine specifically for our industry. We created the search engine with the hope it will streamline the process of searching for damage prevention industry related technologies,” Law said.
The Common Ground Alliance was created to promote damage prevention practices surrounding excavation safety, and assembles this expo to increase the knowledge and awareness of damage prevention best practices.
